MILWAUKEE BUCKS

MIXED REALITY

Scroll Down

The Milwaukee Bucks have positioned themselves as the scariest team in the league. Their player introductions harken back to the upside down in Stranger Things and the fear-inducing horror of Nightmare on Elm Street.

The Famous Group brought Boma onboard to elevate their productions to the next level using cutting-edge technology and artistic expertise. The early design phase focused on visualizing how the Buck would fit inside the arena and how to integrate the upside down into this design.

After reviewing the inital designs and motion tests, the Bucks wanted a creative pivot to give a nod to the intimidation factor of the team. To bring this fear to life the Famous Group leaned on Boma’s expertise. The destruction you see was created utilizing traditional procedural animation techniques perfected by Boma’s own Jonah Hall while working on Roland Emmerich movies “The Day After Tomorrow” and “2012”.

The unique character design of the deer was modeled off the Bucks white tail deer logo with the added flare of glowing green eyes for the transition to all-star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Boma relies on a small team of award-winning artists who leverage the latest technology to create art and execute at the highest level.  Using Houdini in tandem aided by AI to generate textures, we were able to iterate quickly and build animation tools that gave us the control to art direct the root’s thickness, movement and multiplication of tendrils.
